Peasant Maiden in the Grass Limoges Figurine Box

A young peasant maiden rests among the grass in this quiet country scene, her figure and the grassy base together shaping the box. She is a hand-painted porcelain Limoges figurine box from Limoges, France, full of pastoral calm.

Afternoon in the Meadow

Painters from Millet to Renoir found inspiration in the countryside and the women who worked and rested there. This figure carries that same gentle spirit, a pause in the day when the field grass is tall and the sun is warm.

Where the Wildflowers Grow

She makes a thoughtful present for a gardener, a farm girl at heart or anyone who longs for a slower pace of life. Place her on a windowsill overlooking the garden, a bedroom dresser or a curio shelf among other lady figurines.

The French countryside around Limoges is known for its rolling green hills and farmland, so a pastoral subject like this feels especially close to home. Hard-paste porcelain, fired at very high heat, gives painters a smooth surface for the soft greens of the grass and the details of her dress.
